Royal School of Needlework teaches in Exeter

Saturday 30 June to Sunday 1 July, 10am-4pm, join RSN Tutor Helen Jones on a two day hand embroidery class, ‘Stumpwork & Silk Shading: Violets’ at Exeter Community Centre. This two day course is for those with some stitch experience though not necessarily in either Stumpwork or Silk Shading.

We will construct a Raised Work flower using fabric, threads, wires and silk wrapped purls and to accompany it we will Silk Shade a small flower bud. This course would work as a ‘taster’ in both techniques.

Stumpwork (Raised Embroidery): Stumpwork uses an array of different materials and techniques to create raised and three dimensional elements. Designs can be varied and imaginative, offering scope for a high degree of creativity.

Silk Shading: Also known as ‘painting with a needle’, this beautiful technique uses a number
of colours in cotton, skillfully blended together to create the natural appearance of a flower, fruit, plant or animal.

Places are limited to 12 students per class so book now or contact education@royal-needlework.org.uk : https://www.royal-needlework.org.uk/courses/details/15675
