Iris wall hanging With Marlene Chaffey

Saturday 15th June
at Clyst St George Village hall, Woodbury Rd, Exeter EX3 0RE, Near Exeter. Cost £20, no-members £22 [photo inside back page]
Marlene writes:- “The iris wall hanging features a collaged background using a variety of fabrics from cottons, silks, curtain and decorative fabrics and lace, which is then simply machine quilted. The machine quilting can be adapted for those not proficient in free motion quilting so don’t be put off. It is possible to do some of the quilting at home at a later date. Raw edge applique is added to the background and quilted. You will be given the opportunity to add a screen printed bird to add another layer of interest. The word ‘iris’ is printed using a home printer, onto sheer fabric and the method used will be discussed and samples may be purchased should you not want to try it yourself.
This is a small wall hanging that offers several simple techniques but produces a stunning result. It is suitable for all skill levels so come along and have some fun.
