Project Linus

Project Linus
(projectlinusuk.org.uk)
A volunteer organisation aiming to provide a sense of security & comfort to sick & traumatised
babies, children & teenagers. Our motto is ‘a quilt is a hug you can keep’.
I have been a coordinator for several years now & have donated about 1,400 patchwork quilts
so far, all having been made by my contacts in SWQuilters & friends. Donations are regularly
made to Balloons, a child bereavement charity based in Exeter; Pete’s Dragon’s – a suicide
bereavement charity in Exmouth, CLIC Sargent at the children’s ward at the RD&E; Torbay Holiday
Help Scheme & Brainwave in Bridgewater. The feedback I get is heart warming, especially when
the emails come with a photo.
Quilts have to be made to a certain criteria ( health and safety). So if you are new to this good
cause, please do email or call me. At this current time (February 2021) I am in need of older boys
quilts, which ideally need to be of a good size! Each quilt that comes to me has to be checked
thoroughly & then has a label sewn on to it, as well as a paper label pinned to it saying who the
maker is.

I have been so overwhelmed by the support I am getting from you all. Keep the quilts coming please, as just when I think that I have a good stock of them, I get requests for delivery to one of the many charities we support. If you know of any child/young person that could benefit from having one, do let me know. I would ask that if you are bringing donations to a meeting that you label the bag that they come in. At the Christmas meeting I went home with so many, but I didn’t know who they were from!

If you would like some wadding (subsidised by PL + free backing fabric), please give me a call.
