Quiltathon

Our new venture started on the Wednesday evening when we went to Fraddon village hall to set up tables, hang sample quilts and have everything ready for the morning.

Thursday arrived and the first on a very Cornish rota started sewing at 9.00am, all very excited and given pre-cut fabric and the pattern to start.

Tea ladies kept us going with tea, coffee and cakes and as the morning progressed fellow quilters began to arrive to encourage us and chat about how it all started and the preparation etc. We were delighted to welcome Anne Baxter who came down to help us on our way and the day went off like a dream, some sewing, batting up, other members on sales, raffle and again the tea ladies making it a wonderful first day.

Friday was just as memorable, again our traders were supporting and again we had a good trickle of people popping in to see what a quiltathon was all about.

The initial figure we had in mind was 40 but by the end of the two days we had 70 YES SEVENTY!!!!! tops completed.

Several were batted up and started to be quilted, more wadding is on order and will be batted up at our next meeting with the plan to have all finished for presentation to Little Harbour by Christmas.

These two days were terrific fun, hard work but at the end the children of Little Harbour will have something to cherish.

On a personal note I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You to every member of the group for all your help and support.

Well done one and all, Margaret Williams
