Workshops
SWQ hold workshops in the four counties. Click on a county to see which workshops are on in your area:
General Information
Please note that the prices of the workshops will vary according to circumstances, which include, the cost of the tutor, their travel expenses and hire of the hall.
If there is only one price for a workshop this is for members, non-members are £3 extra unless otherwise stated.
Please date the cheques the day of the workshop and ensure that there are sufficient funds available to cover it. If booking more than one workshop please send separate cheques. For administrative reasons, cheques are not banked until after the workshop.
Please supply a DL size stamped addressed envelope for the return of the workshop supply list (i.e. envelope 4” x 8 ½” with 1st class stamp).
Refunds. If the tutor cancels a workshop then a full refund will be given, probably in the form of the original cheque. If a student cancels and no replacement can be found then they will be charged the workshop fee except in extraordinary circumstances.
The Sunset Trust, which was set up by Audrey Dean, will help members with the cost of workshops we hold. Please contact Linda Baldrey for more information.
Please note the different addresses to send booking forms.
Devon Workshops - Exeter area
2009
Claire writes “The course is about making individual flowers by sewing onto a soluble fabric. A variety of sumptuous fabrics will be couched down onto the petals before supporting wires are added. Bead and crystal embellishments and wire and feather centers finish off each creation. The course also uses a variety of techniques from hand sewing to using a glue gun. Samples will be shown and techniques clearly demonstrated allowing everyone to make their own personalised creation. Students will learn how to make an embroidered lace flower. It can then be assembled on a fine headband so that the students have a tailor made fascinator to wear for any special occasion or it can be attached to a brooch bar and worn as a corsage. It could also be attached to a hat or handbag
Students do need to have some knowledge of free machine embroidering.”

Bring along your panels, some fabric that you perhaps have fallen out of love with for the chenille layers, some sashing fabric and your project will evolve during the day!
