22nd February SIDMOUTH AND PATCHERS OPEN DAY at Colyford Memorial hall. Doors open at 9.30am. Tickets must be purchased in advance - £6, to include drinks and lunch. Guest speaker Jo Colwill from Cowslip workshops "Quilting till the Cows come Home". Jo will also be our trader for the day. 8th May SOUTH WEST QUILTERS AGM and SPRING MEETING at Longdown Village Hall Chappell Hill, Longdown, nr. Exeter EX6 7SA Talk by Steve Lockie entitled 'Why do we disagree with the judges?' As one of the first group of Quilters' Guild trained judges, I've had opportunities to judge at several of the big quilting events and it is then interesting to eavesdrop on visitors conversations as to why they thought another quilt was more of a worthy winner. I will share with you the judges role in the judging process and how we come to our decisions. Talk by Helen Keenam entitled:- “Dipped toes and Lasting Passions” Helen will talk about her quilting journey to date, from first tentative beginnings up to present day quiltmaking, and it is liberally sprinkled with quilts will then be available for inspection!
